Joint Professional Ph.D. Degrees

The Microbiology, Genetics, & Immunology Department offers the option of dual Ph.D.-professional degree programs for qualified students.

MSU has three medical colleges, veterinary, human, and osteopathic medicine, and joint degrees are offered with each college. 

Veterinary: DVM/Ph.D.
Human Medicine: MD/Ph.D.
Osteopathic Medicine: DO/Ph.D.

The professional and graduate programs are both designed to meet the individual student’s needs.

Such a program normally takes at least seven years to complete, and students may need to provide their own financial support for the professional school portion of the program.
