Graduate Student Workshop

GSW is a Michigan State University Microbiology, Genetics, & Immunology (MGI) graduate student-led organization that facilitates and supports the success of graduate students. The topics of our workshops include, but are not limited to, public oral presentation preparations, professional development, physical and mental wellness, and resources available on campus and beyond.

Meetings are held approximately every other Wednesday at noon in 2245 BPS. 

Food is always provided.

Meet to discuss changes to the MGI curriculum

Coordinate the invitation of student invited speakers

Student Advisory Council (SAC)

Attend regular meetings with the dean of CNS and other department student reps to communicate  grad student ideas/concerns to the dean

COGS Rep

A graduate student representative for MMG on the university-wide graduate student governance board

Party/Event Planning Committee (Fall Welcome coordinators)

Emily Perez

Mostly plan the Fall picnic but is expanding to other social activities

GSW Committee President

Plan the biweekly Graduate Student workshop, including inviting speakers.  Coordinate communication between other student reps and the graduate students. Also, a great avenue for contact between students and the grad student advisor or the chair. Maintaining GSW website and social media account. 

Treasurer (RSO/GSO)

In charge of financial matter, including event planning and food.
